These would be OK for limited grappling, but you'd be better off with any of these: http://www.elitemma.com/controller.aspx?type=view&info=search&a=ft&v=grappling shin

--- The ones designed specifically for Grappling/MMA are sleeker and will stay in place better than some standard shin guards.
