These shoes are better for MMA than the wrestling shoes many people wear. These shoes are rugged enough to train MMA, with a combination of breathable mesh overlaid with rugged, stresspoint reinforcement. There's a thin layer of rubber reinforcement just forward of the instep to grip and hold the mat. They are deeply notched at the heal which pads and isolates the Achilles tendon, protecting from pinching and injury during training. Tthe Jaewoo is cushioned by Discipline's wrap-around, injection molded midsole. The Jaewoo runs small. If you're a solid 9, go up to 9.5. If you're between sizes - sometimes a 9, sometimes a 9.5 - order a 10.
